THE VISION:

“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”  (Hebrews 12:2 NIV)

Perhaps the most powerful aspect of vision is that it changes your way of thinking, which in turn changes the way you live. My spiritual journey has been guided by biblical wisdom and Godly direction. As a servant leader, I have purposely surrendered my life and God-given talents to the Holy Spirit.

I need not attempt to outline a new vision because God has already established the vision.  God’s Holy Word emphasizes prayer, the use of scripture, and the importance of discerning His will in setting priorities and goals. As an anointed visionary servant leader, my quest to become Bishop is fueled by a drive to make a positive impact on the A.M.E. church.

The success of the A.M.E. church and our very survival depends on the development of quality leaders who can fulfill the Godly responsibility of winning souls to Christ. When leadership fails, God’s agenda for his people and his programs are directly and adversely affected.  God’s people are hungry for guidance and direction. Far too many people have been hurt by leaders who have made predictions and promises that have gone unfulfilled or have led them into deeper hurt and disappointment.

The A.M.E. church began in 1787 and is the nation’s oldest black church denomination. That rich heritage can only be sustained through the production of Godly leaders who are willing to address contemporary challenges and issues. The A.M.E. church must examine new strategies for growth and retention, focus on meeting spiritual needs, and establish programs to promote social renewal for the people. We must strengthen our faith and become a gospel church; a good news church; a hope church; and a love church.  We must show that the A.M.E. church is Christ-centered, committed, compassionate and consistent. We must endeavor to remain the church that understands that God has taken our nature, shared our experiences, borne our sins, and conquered death.

The apostle Paul was quite explicit in describing the type of leaders God wants, particularly those who lead in the church. According to Paul, God wants leaders who are disciplined, seasoned, and convicted in the faith. Jesus said that the mouth speaks out of what fills the heart, so leaders’ words reveal a lot about them. As your new Bishop, my agenda will include the following critical issues:

  • Compassion for God's People
  • Clergy Care
  • Laity Concerns
  • Administrative Management
  • Sound Financial Management

As Bishop, I will follow the teachings of the word of God, keep His commandments, and will seek only to please Him thorough faith in Jesus Christ. I will govern and serve based on the Godly principles outlined below:

  • I will not walk where the parade is, but will walk a new path.
  • I will walk in faith when I can only see one step beyond.
  • I will seek guidance when I am unable to see.
  • I will ask God to bless my feet and will take Jesus with me everywhere I go.
  • I will act as God’s blueprint so that I may set an example for others.
  • I will boldly walk with courage where few would dare to tread.
  • I will not live in fear, only in faith.
  • I will change direction instantly at the bidding of the Father.
  • I will never cut a new trail, but eagerly follow the trail laid by the Holy Spirit.
  • I will smile as I walk, no matter what is happening around me.
  • I will trust in God and never doubt His plans for my life.
